Ecological Clerk of Works
Construction site supervision is essential for many larger developments in order to minimise environmental impacts on the site and ensure successful habitat restoration. An Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) facilitates this, and is frequently part of planning requirements. The remit of a Tay Ecology ECoW includes:
Advice and Monitoring of Construction Activities
Pre-construction checks for sensitive habitats and protected species; and micro-siting of infrastructure features.
Species Protection Plans
Responsibility for implementing species protection plans for amphibians & reptiles; breeding birds; protected mammals; construction exclusion zones; and fulfilling conditions of any protected species licences.
Water Pollution Prevention
Monitors effectiveness of pollution prevention plans; undertakes water quality sampling.
Mitigation and Restoration
As detailed in specific requirements for the development.
Site Inductions, Toolbox Talks and Meetings
Disseminates ecological information to all contractors; details specific tasks; attends environmental protection meetings; and fulfils environmental engagements.
